Another joint effort between Cypress County, the Town of Redcliff and Prairie Rose School Division is the placement of the Community Resource Officer. The three partners share equally in the cost of placing an RCMP Officer directly into the schools within the region. This officer works directly with the students delivering programs and services to youth at risk. The officer administers the DARE program and works with various support groups, agencies and other service providers to diminish drug and alcohol abuse, violence, as well as risky and criminal behaviour among youth. This approach, though directed at youth, is sufficiently broad and flexible enough to capture other community issues and concerns that contribute to safe and caring homes, schools and communities.
